...it stopped working! When this timer arrived it quickly moved into position as the favorite. It was colorful and clearly indicated time remaining. However, after 27 months it stopped working. It would cruise along for about 80% of the selected time period and would then go no further.I gave it 3 stars based on the service it provided (maybe I should have given it less).Bottom line - I will not buy it again. If sounds are a problem, this is the perfect timer. Can't hear it ticking unless it goes up to your ear, and you can turn off the alarm beeping and just see when time is over. If beeping is on, it only beeps in four quick pairs and quits - no need to run over and turn anything off. Might be marketed for children, but this is awesome for ADHD, deep work, people who get overly focused, and any sound-sensitive person. This is a useful concept, to be sure, but buyer beware.I hesitated a bit to buy a Time Timer because it just seems expensive for what it is, and it's not like we have a shortage of alarms and timers in our home. However, as I am just starting to help my teen daughter navigate her ADHD diagnosis and address time management, especially, I decided to try it based on recommendations from various experts. Truthfully, my daughter wasn't into it, so we didn't try it immediately after receiving it. When we did, I noted that the dial does move, so there is a visual reminder of the passage of time, but the alarm consisted of 3 faint beeps- if it sounded at all. I reached out to the company directly because I noticed that the toggle doesn't move fully to the left (sound on) but it does move fully to the right (sound off). So, it seemed to be a defective product. The company did not respond, even though the website claims to have a satisfaction guarantee.Fast forward, I am dealing with all of the complex challenges of an adolescent who has ADHD, and finally got around to following up. I genuinely believe this could be a valuable tool, but it is absolutely useless if the alarm doesn't sound. I learned today that the company will NOT refund or exchange timers bought on Amazon (which, regrettably, I used just for ease) and my window to do so through Amazon has now closed. This is my fault, to be sure. However, it is hard for me to understand why the Time Timer company is unresponsive and wouldn't WANT to its customers to be 100% satisfied.Truthfully, I would expect this from Amazon, but I definitely expected more from Time Timer. Needless to say, I'm really disappointed that a company that purports to care about its consumers and, frankly, charges a lot for its products would uphold its satisfaction guarantee, no matter what. Were the company to make good, I would probably buy another- perhaps my daughter would want one of the small ones to use in school, who knows? That's how companies build good will and inspire people to buy again. If I do hear from Amazon or Time Timer, I will update this review, but that's probably unrealistic and I'm really just typing to offset the irritation I feel looking at the box on my kitchen counter. As a parent of a child with ADHD, life is frustrating enough and this is just another headache. I feel like I was duped into buying a plastic object that will probably end up in landfill, so I would just advise shoppers of Time Timers poor quality control and customer care. This timer, although easy to read, is so cheaply made that I have to remove the battery after using it to prevent the timer from going off every minute or so. I would not reorder this. Super sad that it doesn't function well because I was excited to use this my ADHD daughter. As an adult with ADHD, I have always struggled with being on time for things and with judging and estimating how much time an activity or project will take. It's called "time blindness". Once my two boys were also diagnosed, as it is highly hereditary, I decided I needed to get this both for myself and for my kids to help us better visualize time passing. It works simply - you turn the timer and the time remaining is represented by a shrinking red wedge. It has helped me and my kids to better track our time on tasks and to get ready for work/school/etc. It has a durable design, and the silicone "boot" is key to keeping it from being destroyed by two boys that love to fidget with everything. This is the original, per se, and is worth spending the bit extra to get a time timer that will last.PROS: It's the only timer of its kind that moves clockwise the way that literally EVERYONE on earth reads a clock. Also, the old battery cover that needed a screw (this is based on past complaints) has been replaced with one that's removable with fingers.CONS: I could only set the disc to 59 minutes (see picture). The company's website says that this is normal, because the red color doesn't cover the entire disk, thus leaving a 1 minute gap. Okaaaay. Which begs the question: why? why? WHY? Every other timer on Amazon does not have this problem. If someone can give me a good reason for this I'm willing to upgrade my rating. Also, if you'll look closely at my picture, even if they covered the entire disk with red they'd still be a tiny gap of white.I can't speak of durability yet because I just got this, but based on some complaints I'm crossing my fingers that if anything goes wrong, it happens within the return window.Awesome product. Really liked it, better than the original time timer bc it stands freely on its own. The fun color helped keep things positive-but I left it on the table and tiny hands turned it until it could turn no more, so the red part must have fallen off the knob and there’s no way to get it back on-so I am out $30 after exactly 15 days.Okay so I love these timers. I’m embarrassed to say I’ve bought 5 of them now for different rooms/purposes so I don’t have to go looking for them. I have noticed the beep is sometimes shorter than usual or doesn’t go off randomly but it keeps accurate time and the visual countdown is what makes these unique. I love this style and prefer it over the larger black wall hanging model which I also own. They look chic and keep you on trackThis visual aid for watching the passing of time has really helped with getting children out the door on time. We make a game of beating the clock as a team, and the usual school morning routine has become much more fun.We needed something to help our oldest son have a great sense of time when he did something or when he had to get ready for something. It had to be visual and also have sound and it had to help him reduce his frustration of not being able to read or understand time. WE FOUND IT! THIS IS IT!It really was the best choice ever. We tried with all sorts of clocks and alarms. Nothing worked better than such a visual.PROS:- it has seconds, not hours- the timer goes clockwise- it has red color (visual, that is) for the person to see that the time is passing by clockwise- it has sound that you can turn ON/OFF (it is funny when we forget that and it is ON and ringing while daddy is recording a live session for his course LOL)- it helps the person having a challenges understanding time and organizing himself/herself how to be aware and start/stop when needed- reduces or eliminates frustration as you can use it to warn your child (even the typical one or the typical adult) of when to stop an activity as another one starts- easy to use- sturdy (even a baby can try to throw it, or play with it in many ways and won't destroy it - at least ours didn't)- easy to manipulate - you literally have something like a knob to turn it so even someone having physical disability has higher chances of using it- the button you use to turn it to the time you need also has a pointer so you have another visual for the brain- helps you see how many seconds you have in a minuteEven if it doesn't have the hours, I think it is perfect this way. We have clocks around too so he can see what time is it in many ways. We were looking specifically for a suitable timer and we did. All in all, highly recommended!Very well made and easy to use. My teenager doesn't grasp the concept of time so it is very helpful for her to visualize the time left and avoid conflicts with mom. The bell is not too loud.It was a bit pricey but looking at other products, it seems of much higher quality.Love this timer, awesome for helping me with my ADHD time blindness. I like that you can switch between silent or alarm, & the bright colour makes it easily visible from a distance. Very neurodivergent friendly.I do think the product is pretty overpriced for what it is, but unfortunately it's the only one I could find anywhere that accommodates those of us who need the visual. That being said it's been working great since I got it 4 months ago!I have ADHD and this has helped me track my tasks and understand how long things are taking me in a way that feels easy and non-stressful. I love that the alarm sound is optional and that it only beeps 4 times so you don't have to shut it off manually like a regular alarm. The timer is well made with what seems like high quality materials. At first I thought the price was a lot but after just a couple of days it's already worth it.
