I bought this to replace a regular flip switch on my gas fireplace which has a simple circuit with a thermopile that provides the low voltage. It isn't wired into the main power and doesn't have a neutral ground so I needed a simple mechanical switch. The pros: very easy to install, seems to be accurate time wise.Cons: looks cheap. The print is not correctly centered so that already is annoying. The color is not correct. It looks yellowed, like old plastics. It makes it look very tacky. The knob feels flimsy and is really loose like it might fall off.Neutral: The ticking is pretty loud, but that might be inevitable with a mechanical timer.I gave it 3 stars because it serves its purpose but it is just ok.The timer installs easily into existing wall switch boxes, but requires a rectangular wall plate cut out. There are limited types of multi-gang switch plates available for standard bathroom light switch, fan switch and outlet plugs. However, Amazon had one plate suitable for my bathroom, but I had to replace the electrical outlets in order to fit that plate.I followed the instructions that came with this switch, but the lock-nut was too short to secure the included filler plate, which is too large to fit in the opening of the wall plate. If placed over the opening in the wall plate it is too far away from the switch. So I took off the wall plate and installed the filler plate directly to the switch using the lock-nut and then replaced the wall plate. This puts the filler plate under the opening of the wall plate, which is OK.The other annoyance was the included screws to secure the switch in the wall box were Phillips head instead of the usual screws that are a combination of flat and Phillips head.I also found that the instructions picture a side view of the switch installation showing the wires coming out of the switch on the bottom. This is incorrect, the switch needs to be installed with the wires coming out of the top or the pointer of the knob will be inverted. So far the electrical operation of the switch is fine, I may update this review if I have any problems in the coming months like some of the negative reviewers have experienced.Only two wires, no built-in ground but is tapped for extra screws to ground. Labels are upside down on unit compared to mounting direction. Works, kinda...will shut off after any timed limit, but turns right back on. Bad switch. Won't use Woods again.Despite a metal shell, there's no ground wire or ground terminal to attached a safety ground to, which is a bit troubling, and you may run afoul of a vigilant electrical inspector if you try to use this in a plastic box. The ferrule which attached the plate to the unit is really short; hard to attached. Otherwise, it's easy to install. Despite Amazon's recommendations, you likely don't need a new switch cover for this, you can use this with either a decora or normal light switch cover, there are alignment notches on the back of the timer face plate for both.Timer has worked fine. Starts when I set it and cuts the items off (shower exhaust fan and light) at the time I set. I have since purchased and installed a second timer for the same purpose in a second bathroom and experiencing the savings from both areas. The unit appears to be well made and very consistent. I purchased the light almond and the color matches well with the light almond face plate and the other three standard toggle switches in the same face plate. I also like that I can continue to use the standard 4 toggle face plate for this install, not having to purchase a more expensive specialty wall plate. Very professional looking.Bought this to replace a fan timer that would run down about a minute before shut off and keep the bathroom exhaust fan running. It worked properly, but the time bezel behind the knob was just sitting there loose and would flop around if touched. I think I could have secured it in place with some hot melt glue on the back side of the bezel. Before I tried that, I took the old timer apart and found I could shorten the clock spring about a half inch and then it worked ok, so I put the old one back in as it was the same as the heater timer next to it. The mechanism is similar to a mechanical clock and turning the knob winds the clock.1) This switch is not grounded - check your local building code to make sure this is OK. I'll probably replace it with a grounded switch since it is for a bathroom fan.2) There is a top and bottom to the switch, not mentioned in the installation instructions, so dry fit it first with the cover plate and knob to make sure it is right side up, or you stand a 50-50 chance of having to reinstall it.3) The mounting screws were too small, the head of the screw easily slipped through the mounting hole. Luckily this was a replacement for another switch and I was able to use the old screws.4) The picture looks like it will fit a decorator cover plate - it doesn't. Luckily I had another cover plate that worked, but you should be aware you may need to make a trip to the local hardware store.4a) But the plate with the minutes behind the knob is molded to fit into a standard cover plate, or at least it would if the mounting T-nut that holds it to the switch was long enough - it isn't. I ended up gluing it in.The timer itself is well made and will definitely fit the Decora style plates. It is unfortunate that the shade of Light Almond that is supplied by "Woods" is much closer to Ivory colour that most other manufacturers use. It certainly does not match the Light Almond Decora switches, and it definitely shows when it is used in a three gang switch plate with two other Decora switches.. But ,,I had a heck of a time trying to source any Light Almond timers so I will be satisfied with this oneNot recommend. If your use case is time critical and you need reliability, don't even consider this.I have 2 and they both randomly stop counting down keeping the connection active until manual intervention. In other words: it don't work properly.I bought these for the fans in our bathrooms that were originally controlled by switches. The face plate is made to Decora standards but it is also designed to work with a standard switch plate so you don't need to find a special 1x decora & 1x standard plate or change the light switch to a decora in order to install the timer.EASY INSTALLATIONEasy to install , works great
