I needed a space heater since there is a 5 degree difference between my loft and the entry-level floor. This fireplace fits the bill. I'm not sure if I want to try to add a custom insert or mount on the wall, so I really appreciate the ability to have it freestanding while I decide. The 750W setting is essentially just having the right heating vent on and the 1500W setting has both heating vents on. The remote works but you need to be directly in front of the receiver and it will not pick up a signal if you're a few degrees off. The options allow a changes in the flame height, flame color, flame speed, and crystal color. You need to take the glass front off to mount and add the plastic crystals. Be careful when you take the glass front off. There is a single silver screw on the left and right sides that need to be removed before taking off the glass. Then carefully lift up and out. There is a red electronic clip that you need to remove before completely taking off the glass. Do not pull too hard or you will disconnect the controls from the motherboard.In addition to helping heat the entry level, the fireplace is beautiful to have on. You can also turn on the flames without the heat if heat is not needed. A great addition to my home.
