I have been looking at these automatic curtain openers for so long because there are so many different versions and the reviews are all over the place. So here's a real review from a real user who loves technology.I use this on a curtain rod made up of a bunch of individual pieces that you screw together and this works out really well because it slides much easier. However, at first my curtains which are metal rings that go onto a rod are pretty heavy so it was very difficult to get this to move quickly and it seemed to struggle. I took the plastic chain and all of the clips that are inside of the packaging that came with this and instead of using one long chain with a bunch of clips I just connected the clips in the back with the chain every other hook so that every other hook can't open all the way and go flat. If you stop the curtains from going flat then the metal rings are actually able to slide more. So instead of putting the clips so that the metal rings stretch out and become more of a 45° angle or 60° angle against the rod, they now are closer to perpendicular with the rod if that makes sense. This enables the motor of this automatic curtain opener work much more smoothly because the rings aren't at a slant and then slide easier. I also am considering using a drawer or curtain sliding tape which is a sticky tape that you put on top of your curtain rod. That is super slick and smooth so that you have an even better and faster opening and closing of the curtains. Currently though I'm very happy with it and I would not put the tape on because my curtains aren't that heavy but this could be solution for people who find that their curtains are really heavy and this device struggles.On the battery life I have had this now before I think about 2 months and my battery still says 60% or 70% and so I'm very happy with the battery life. I love that it is chargeable with USBC which is nice.I also use the transmitter that plugs into a USB port and I use this with Google homes. So I usually just give my command to activate my smart home and then I say things like open sesame to open the curtains or Alakazam to close them.I also have them programmed with a smart automation on Google home and that works out super well so that each morning at a certain time one curtain opens and then another curtain opens and then a few minutes later I have lights turn on in my bedroom and then a few minutes after that I have my smart home tell me about my sleep the previous night. What appointments I have coming up? What the weather's going to be like and then it starts playing music in my bedroom, my kitchen and my bathroom.Everyone is impressed with this. It's a really neat feature to have and I look forward to the prices getting to a point where I can put this on all of my curtains in my home.Oh as far as the light sensing goes I don't use that because my curtains go over my window frame and they're also blackout curtains so it doesn't really do much for me. I think it would be cool to maybe have the light sensor be on the USB device instead of on the motors itself and that way it could be more about how the light is where you plug in the USB sensor then actually at the window.I hope this review helps everybody. If you're like me and you've been looking at these for months and months and months okay before pulling the trigger, I think just go ahead and pull the trigger and test them out. Just keep my suggestions and pointers in mind and I think you'll be very happy with the product.
