This is my go to watch. So glad they still make this model as I have been buying it for at least 20 years and each one has lasted me for many years. At least 5 plus each. It's still the same basic watch, but this one is a little nicer as the numerals are just a bit larger and the Indiglo light now lights the numerals instead of the background. Very nice feature and easier to read at night. Love the fact that it still has 2 time settings, a chrono & timer as well as three alarms and works exactly the same as every one I have purchased from the beginning so many years ago. Nothing new to learn. Also very durable. I'm very hard on my watches and these hold up to abuse.I like the fact that it has 3 alarms, they remind me when to take my medicine. The count down timer also is very helpful. To be brief it is a great watch. Unlike the Norelco shaver head I bought from Amazon that is not worth a damn.It only took Timex how many years to come up with this? This watch is ideal for me. It incorporates Timex's most useful (to me, anyway) features - countdown timer, three alarms, 100m water resistance and a clear illuminator - into a good-looking case and display with standard 20mm lugs so that replacement straps to fit a small wrist are very easy to find. Plus, the illuminator button is recessed slightly into the bezel where it can't be accidentally activated when wearing it inside the wrist as I do to prevent it from catching when I have to reach into tight quarters. Very well done.Large, simple display, no logos obscuring anything, illuminator displays at any angle of view; one model in this series with 18 mm lugs and two huge protrusions on each side for screws can only be read straight on using the illuminator.I mentioned a small wrist and the standard strap width; it comes with a one-piece fabric strap with velcro closure, and it is just a little long for my 6" wrist, plus the watch is attached to the strap by a strip of elastic so that it sticks up off the wrist very prominently. I ordered a 20mm silicone strap for it, and couldn't be more pleased. One thumb down on how it is presented on this buyer's site - multiple models are offered, so when you read the reviews, pay attention to which watch is being reviewed. That's why I put the model I bought as the title.Water proof and comfortable. I wear it in the shower and swimming. Rarely leaves my wrist. Long lasting battery and accurate time keeper.936 - Feels and acts like an old friend. Just wish I could replace the battery myself; or even knew where to take it to get a new battery.I wear these watches nearly 24/7 for years. My 3rd one. At this price, I usually only replace battery and/or band once in several years, then just replace the whole watch. I get 3 or 4 years use before I've scraped, torn, or bashed the poor thing while working. I'd never wear a $$ tech watch like I do this one. Newest version fixed an issue with the light button being accidentally pressed. An awesome watch that can withstand the rigors of field training, trail running, and swimming. However, the indiglo light function does die very quickly when it is used often. The band on the watch is comfortable and the compass detail does not get in the way when writing or typing. I highly recommend this watch for anyone in the military or who enjoys the outdoors.Always buy this item. Velcro closing is nice.Have stuck with Timex Ironman watches over recent years but have been repeatedly frustrated and disappointed by the short life of the resin straps .Although you can get a replacement strap it can be very tricky to fit. I tried this and although the strap I received did match the watch product number,I found it impossible to fit it.This particular model was a US import and has a leather and fibre strap which I hope will be easier to replace when the time comes and thus prolong the life of the watch. This strap does appear quite flimsy though so will have to see how it wears.I am happy with the format of the watch and the indiglo light feature which I find particularly useful.I quite like this watch. Numbers are a good size and its to read. Battery lasts well. The raised surround protects the glass well. The functions are easy to navigate and operate nearly as you'd expect. The big disappointment as is so often the case with a lot of watches these days is the rubbish strap. Sure looks fine as new but the different materials stretch at different rates so you get stress at the joins. ... and then it falls apart, after a year and a half. Quite tedious having to get new strap. I had a freebie watch from Runners World before this which got very harsh treatment (it was free after all) and the strap was still going strong after nearly a decade. Why can't Timex manage to do the same on a 20 - 30 pound watch?I bought this watch on a great time-limited offer in the Amazon sale period last November 2014. The big attraction for me was an everyday watch that lights up and tells me the time when I wake up in the middle of the night. Yes, the Indiglo thing. Marvellous. Unfortunately, little people like pressing the button and, after 8 months of use, the Indiglo flashed and shorted out, never to work again. I've had the battery changed, just in case, but to no avail. All I know now is that, when I wake up in the middle of the night, it's still dark! Amazon site tells me that return is no longer possible, the last chance being 31 Jan 2015. Ah, well.I'd have given this 3 stars had it worked for more than 5 days, however the back light failed within the week. Check other reviews before considering. It's a shame the quality can't be assured otherwise this would be a decent every day watch. The only other niggle is that the buttons are very sensitive, so it's easy to change mode/make the back light go on just by touching a surface with it. Compass is a bit of a gimmick, but I actually found it quite useful.Brilliant tough little watch. Can't fault it for £10. I bought it for timing legs on my cross-country flying navigation legs. The big display digits, easy-to-activate night light (which stays on a few seconds so you can press the button then hold the watch up to your eyes in turbulence without taking your hands off the yoke) and the little compass - whilst not massively accurate unless you can stand stock-still for ten seconds - is a nice little gadget.Might buy a couple more to keep as spares!!
