I have a large home irrigation system and I wanted to upgrade to a smart controller. This is one of the only ones that can handle as many zones as I need. So first of all installation - the units themselves are built for ease of installation. You can remove the screw holders, wire them up and then snap them into the units. Getting onto my wi-fi and the internet was another thing though. I chatted and called support many times and they were about to send me another base unit when it finally worked. It seems like those wire holders need to be snapped into the unit for the unit to function - nowhere in the somewhat cryptic instructions is this mentioned. Now operation - the units do not feel solid. The perception I have is that they could break easily. The key to a smart device is the ability to access it through a network and app. Unfortunately accessing it through its phone app is a hit or miss proposition. At least half the time the units would lose connectivity or an access timeout message would appear. There are also programming issues and lack of capabilities - for example, the unit does not break up a zones running time and interleave with others (something most "dumb" controllers do) nor can you program it to run (through midnight) overnight. You need to separate the evening and morning start times. Finally, I have started to experience basic run time problems - for example, it will just stop in the middle of a programmed zone. So after a couple of months I have brought back my old "dumb" Hunter controller. Not smart enough to be connected, but reliable enough to be counted on. This one goes in the wasted money bin....It takes alot of modifications to make your boxes work,,in suncity az us landscapers mostly us the Irritrol clocks your boxes turned out good after gutting the whole interior & removing the weather proof door to my new clocks it just fits inside, but I had to then put weather seals on your boxes to keep my clocks dry, turned out great, but alot of extra work,,if your boxes were just about a inch deeper they'd be perfect,,My neighbor recommended NxEco controller to me, telling me that it is so easy to use, especially for his wife, who loves gardening, but never wanted to learn how to use the Rainbird controller they had. But now she adjusts irrigation by APP, never bothers him again.I found a YouTube video on how to install NxEco controller. Following instructions from the video, it took me less than one hour to finish installation. BTW, the video is available from the company website as well. After installation, it happened to rain and was cloudy for several days. Clearly, the new controller saved water automatically for these days. But more for me, I love the convenience of controlling by my phone.Lastly, the fact NxEco controller can be adjusted on site just like traditional controllers gives me peace of mind. I would never choose smart irrigation controllers that can only be adjusted by smart phones. Such controllers become useLESS when cloud servers are down or the companies are out of business. This is designed to hold an “indoor”controller however with indoor controllers , they typically come with a plug in power supply and in this box there is absolutely no room for it . So , your electric power plug must be mounted outside this box which then requires you to protect that plug somehow from rain and other exterior elements . So in my case , I would have been better off buying a irrigation timer that is made for exterior use whereas that unit would have its own built in power supply and can have the 110 volt wiring come directly into the box. Nothing wrong with the box itself however not sure what use it really is used for .No rain yet, but product appears to be able to protect well when it occursQuality is solid and easy to install. I attached this to the exterior of my house to shield my Can be used for any display outdoors to protect from the elements. Used it for my tankless water heater display. If you want a robust, feature rich irrigation controller at a reasonable price with great customer service, this is it. I had a question that was answered overnight. Then I had a problem with setup. The vendor answered the phone on a Sunday. He had me up and running in two minutes.
