I stare at my phone too much. We probably all do. I liked the idea of discouraging this behavior by getting a phone locker that would lock me out of my phone for a few hours a day to cut back on screen time. I bought this one because I liked the look and cost of it. The instructions are written in small font but are easy to understand. The lockout timer can be set in 5- and 30- minute increments. There is also an emergency open function if you absolutely need to get to your phone when it's locked up, but according to the documentation it can only be used twice.Ever.Is this true, or is it just a claim to discourage people of getting into the habit of using the emergency open function all the time and defeating the purpose of a phone locker? I don't know and I don't care find out just for the sake of this review. Heck, I haven't even tried it once to make sure it works. There is this downside too: I have a Samsung Galaxy A51 with an Otterbox case. The phone will not fit in the box with the case on. It's long enough and wide enough but not deep enough. I have to take the case off for it to fit. It's not necessarily a deal breaker, but ultimately this is a device intended to keep me from the addictive habit of staring at my phone too much, and the more hurdles there are for me to jump over to keep me from doing something I subconsciously want to do, the more likely I am to just skip locking up my phone and keep watching YouTube videos and Twitter drama. If this box was just 2mm deeper it would have been perfect for me. But it's not.But hey, if you don't use a phone case, or if your phone case is exceptionally thin, maybe that's not an issue for you. This lockbox works great for me. I recommend you make sure it has a charge before trying it because the instructions mention that it won't open if it isn't charged. Mine was charged and worked perfectly when I received mine. I have been using it ever since. The beep for the timer is particularly quiet which is nice for me and I found that (I usually set it for 1 hr at a time) I work past the timer because I wasn't getting distracted when I don't have access to my phone.I do think that it was a little pricey for the quality as it could likely be easily broken in half (which may be necessary in some case), but there is the space at the bottom for emergency phone calls.Aside from the price relative to quality, I am pretty happy with the purchase.Worked great at keeping me on track while studying for the bar exam, although the tiny hole meant I could still use my finger to scroll on things and see messages, just not respond. Also, I inadvertently discovered one day that if the box falls from a desk/table onto the lid, it opensThis thing is unforgiving, and that’s what we all need sometimes.I’m struggling with getting distracted by my phone while working from home. This seemed like a good solution. And it is, except it doesn’t really fit an iPhone 13. Sure, it technically when it doesn’t have its case - but who doesn’t use a cellphone case??Also setting it up to lock is kinda awkward and not intuitive. Once you learn, it’s okay but not obvious and straight forward.Still thankful for its functionality. It is helping me not get so distracted at work.Very effective! I got one of these after reading the book Stolen Focus. I set it for two hours when I’m trying to get work done.Overall decent product. Happy with the outcome.Locking mechanism works excellent,,, way more solid than expected.?????~πGreat way to break a habitDefinitely better than any of apps I've ever downloaded as you can always find a way around them.Love the concept, I hope to alleviate my phone addiction with this! 1 hour in and I'm loving it
