It is a lot smaller than I thought but it looks cool and slides right into the soil. It is a telescope wand, very flimsy when the light is on it so when you put it in the soil push in from the very bottom. My aloe plant needs some healing from lack of light so I have it in a "cast" to help hold it up. (That's what I'm calling it). The object is to get my aloe to heal and stand up right. The leaves are bent and some are broken off. I have another aloe plant that's in the same condition but I'm trying a different type of grow light to see if it helps. The other one I have only has yellow, white, and mixed lights, not blue or purple. And the other one clips onto something and has house neck so I can maneuver it into different positions to light multiple plants. So we will see which prevailsEasy to assemble and set up. The lamp has performed exactly as described in the instructions. I had no problems with it tipping over as some others have described. I'm using it in a 6 inch pot. This item is terrific. Easily starts your vegetables, I have a large one also grows eight pods at a time. You won't regret purchasing this item. Beautiful Veggies Kale, lettuce, wonderful little tomatoes, long surviving basil which I previously had trouble growing. Enjoy! You won't regret it!!My mom got a little rose bush for her birthday and it started wilting. She lives in an apartment and their isn't enough light so we bought her the umbrella light. She has the light on 12 hours a day and her plant came back to life. She even called this week and told us about her first little rose. Her plant is green as a plastic plant it is that healthy.Measured Foot Candles at the brightest setting and lowest setting at 2" away from plant and 12" away. Haven't figured it out, or it isn't working.I will be trying the SANSI LED grow lights for some other plants. A unit with 4 gooseneck lamps is $40, so a better bargain compared to the umbrella lamp at $20 with just one lamp. But each type of lamp has its advantages. All in all, I am satisfied with this Umbrella LED Grow Light.I bought this for my pothos which I kept on top of a bookshelf in my windowless office. It worked great, my pothos grew very nicely and added some much needed light to my office. Overall liked the looks, would recommend.Little light is cute, love the timer feature! Will not stay in the small potted plant if rod is fully extended. The top is too heavy. Also beeps throughout the day- not sure why. Will keep it.I like it well enough. I think this would work well for people living in apartments with limited outside, and southern lights. It works for small plants.I could see it working well in the Tiny Houses for small herb gardens. Some herbs, such as holy basil, summer savory, thyme, and marjoram are small and potent herbs that pack a powerful taste., could grow in the small spaces, and a pinch will do for these herbs. The light attachment could be charged by my portable solar charger.Overall, I like this light. The shade is attractive and keeps the light from blinding anyone. The extendable post is relatively stable, and its nice that the cord is clear so it isn't too obvious hanging down. The plug works with a remote outlet (I supplied that) which is nice since I placed it somewhere that makes the switch on the cord difficult to reach. In my experience, not all of these lamps will turn back on with a remote outlet. I also like that it looks like a lamp more than an industrial light, and that it's white full spectrum, not that horrible pink of so many grow lights. Some cons are the price compared to other grow lamps I have of a similar size, and the cord length is quite short, which limits where you can put it. I don't love how limited the timer is, but that can be controlled with a remote outlet.I likely wouldn't buy two, but I do like this one enough to keep it.The light works, but is not as discribed. It only has an on/switch.The pictures and description, said in included a timer which was the main reasons I chose this product over other similar products available. The downside of these is addressed in a few other review - the cord is short (maybe 4 ft long?) and the timer function is pretty long (16 hours on, 8 hours off, no way of changing it). That being said, they are probably some of the prettiest grow lights I've ever seen and they work insanely well. My pothos is thriving under this. If it had a longer cord, I'd order two more for some of my other hanging plants. The light is small, it is effective if you have a small plant. However, not sure if it will be able to support a larger plant. The wire comes in directly from the light, so it looks a little ungainly hanging loosely about. Also, the wire length is pretty short, so need to either use an extension or place it near the outlet. Finally, there is no additional controls to set up time limits, so have to manually switch on/off.
