They have a nice slow flicker rate that I find soothing and realistic. The bulb is recessed below the lips of the candle so they aren't visible. They look realistic enough that I catch myself grabbing them from the base so I don't get burned. I use them to provide mood lights for my van. If I need a bit of extra light to find something, for example, I use one as a flashlight. I haven't used the remote or timer. I've only had them a couple of weeks, but they seem durable.
