Upon opening the box I was met with the smart water valve itself, an instruction booklet, and a few adapters. There also was some thread tape included in there which I felt was a nice touch to ensure water tight seal. The valve comes out of the box in sleep mode and requires you to press and hold the button on it for 5 seconds (until light turns on) to take it out of that mode. Each end of the valve is plastic on the outside but brass on the inside which means this should last for a while and not strip out the threads or leak either. My only gripe about it was that the instruction booklet as well as a sticker on the valve indicated it could be charged via solar OR usb-c but did not tell you where the charge port is as it was not immediately obvious. The amazon page does show where the port is located but you need to grip both halves and rotate the solar panel half for the port to show itself (also shown in one of my pictures). Charging via usb or solar works well and it charges surprisingly fast via solar. Rotating the solar panel is also a nice touch as it allows you to better point it at the sun depending on how the valve is oriented.Using the valve is pretty straightforward and my use cases for it are to water my vegetable garden on a timer if there has not been rainfall within a certain amount of hours as well as aid in refilling my freshwater aquariums during water change time. Both tasks are easily achieved after pairing the device with the lumary app. It is super simple and makes my life really easy while maintaining freshwater aquariums because i can tell it to only allow a certain number of liters or gallons through the valve before it automatically shuts off so I do not need a second set of hands to go turn the water off manually. For the vegetable garden, the weather is all shown in the app and you can set delay on the valve if it is a rainy day. You can set in the app to also turn it on and off at certain times for a specific duration or by volume which works perfect for the aquarium water changes as i know exwctly how many gallons are needed to refill the aquarium. In both cases, the valve works extremely well and does exactly what i need it to do. I can not comment on long term durability yet, but it seems to be built really well and utilizes brass which is a huge plus.For anyone that is interested in home automation integration, I have found that these are tuya compatible so integrating the valve with homeassistant, which i use as my home automation platform, was also really straightforward and i was able to do so using the 'localtuya' integration (for added control/security) or the official tuya integration which requires external connectivity to the tuya IoT platform (cloud). Also since it is tuya compatible, you can also pair it and use this device with the tuya mobile app as an alternative to the lumary mobile app if you are already invested in other devices on their platform. Both mobile apps are easy to use and do exactly what i needed them to do.Overall, this smart water valve is a great device and I have yet to find something to complain about. It works very well, especially for my use cases. The only feature i have not tested yet is the alexa integration and that is because i have chosen to instead integrate this with my home automation platform (homeassistant) for more granular orchestration and automation and use alexa type integrations through homeassistant. Everything else works exactly as it should and I am very happy with this valve! 5/5 would definitely recommend!
