Works great for me. Not sure why there are bad reviews, but it functions perfectly and comes with spare bearings.As far as the listed step rating, I suspect the size of the device determines ultimate speed, with larger devices running lower in the range unable to get the 12,000 steps per hour.An iPhone 15 pro max for example consistently clocks around 7,000 steps per hour on the default high speed setting
